Workshop Intensive: Enhancing Dance With Ritual - learn to incorporate sacred meaning and intent with dance movement. Ritual is a dynamic union of self and spirit, above and below-so why should it be static? Learn to incorporate movement into your ritual with focused intention and discover a much more powerful experience. We'll look at the parts of various rituals from start to end, and how different sacred movements (gestures and dance steps) can be applied. Using ritual concepts from mystical spiritual traditions from both the East and West, we'll examine how the structure of a ritual can create a deeper sense of meaning and purpose in your performance. A basic understanding of Pagan spirituality is helpful, but not required (however, an open mind and creativity is!). This workshops is geared to bellydancers as well as for Pagans looking to invigorate their workspace.

**a little update - we're implementing a popular Bay Area offering/special out here for this event, since the techniques can have really profound effects on group workings as well as soloists...if you're an instructor or troupe leader, and can have 4 students/troupers pre-registered workshop, you yourself get to take the workshop for free (or split the discount amongst you afterwards).

All related pre-registrations must occur on the same day via PayPal (all noted with which group/teacher) or on the same check/money order --and only while space is available!

Also, there's still room to perform in the evening show - all styles are welcome - we just ask that you be respectful of all styles and join in the spirit of the event.

TO REGISTER: Registration $50 @ door (cash or check only)

About Tempest, Your Instructor
Tempest is an artist, designer, dancer, and writer recently relocated from Bay Area of California to the Jersey Shore. Although she enjoys studying what tradition has to offer, Tempest loves exploring the dance through unusual music and creative costuming, pulling on her visual arts background to "paint a picture" with the dance; engaging the audience through dramatic embodied storytelling, passionate expression, and sensuous, mesmerizing movement.

She finds inspiration for her dances in many eras, places, and faces, from ancient cultures and spiritual myths worldwide, to the work of silent film star and original vamp Theda Bara, and turn-of-the-century dance goddess Ruth St. Denis. She is most well-known for her Gothic Belly Dance performances and instruction, and is featured on the first ever GBD performance DVD produced by WorldDanceNewYork entitled "The Darker Side of Fusion", it's sequel "Gothic Belly Dance: Revelations", and Hollywood Music Center's "Bellydance Underworld". She also has an instructional DVD geared towards the alternatively-minded entitled "Bellydance for Beautiful Freaks" produced by WorldDanceNewYork.
